Copenhagen, Friday 1 November 2013: Daryl Dellora today addressed the Sydney Opera House: Jørn Utzon’s Unfinished Masterpiece Symposium at the Royal Danish Academy for Fine Arts, School of Architecture, Copenhagen, Denmark. Following the publication of his book Jørn Utzon and The Sydney Opera House (Penguin 2013) Daryl joined original Opera house architects Mogens Prip-Buus and Octay Nayman and Academics: Associate Professor Adrian Carter, Professor Thomas Bo Jensen and Dr Chiu Chen-Yu. Daryl spoke about his new book which debunks many of the myths surrounding Utzon’s time on the Opera House job, in particular the continuing claims that Utzon had no plans for the interiors of the building and was incapable of finishing it. The enthusiastic audience in Copenhagen again confirmed the growing esteem with which Jørn Utzon and his architectural legacy is received throughout the world, especially, of course, in Australia but also increasingly in his home country of Denmark. The 21 October 2013 marked the Fortieth Anniversary of the official opening of the Sydney Opera House in 1973.
