By October 4, 2018Uncategorized

Following the successful nationwide release of feature documentary Jill Bilcock: Dancing the Invisible, Yarraville’s Sun Theatre will be showcasing the work of Jill Bilcock in a weekend-long film retrospective, All About Jill.

All About Jill will open on Friday 2 November with a special screening of Jill Bilcock: Dancing The Invisible, and Q&A session with Jill Bilcock and director, Axel Grigor.

The film features commentary from film luminaries Cate Blanchett, Baz Luhrmann, Shekhar Kapur, Phillip Noyce, Fred Schepisi, Jocelyn Moorhouse, Ana Kokkinos and Rachel Griffiths. With rare and previously unseen footage of Bilcock’s process in the editing suite, the documentary provides an utterly captivating and unprecedented insight into the artistry of film editing.

All About Jill will go on to feature Jill Bilcock’s prolific collection of work, including Romeo + Juliet, The Dressmaker, Muriel’s Wedding, Strictly Ballroom, Moulin Rouge!, Elizabeth, Japanese Story, Head On, Road To Perdition and Dogs In Space.

Executive Producer of Jill Bilcock: Dancing The Invisible Sue Maslin comments, “I am thrilled that the first major retrospective of the work a film editor is to be held at the Sun Theatre Yarraville as they are boundless in their passion for Australian cinema”.

Sun Theatre’s owner Michael Smith adds “I was lucky to be at the premiere of Dancing the Invisible, and had always admired the role of editing in creating great films, but seeing the artistry behind Jill’s work I was so inspired, that as soon as I got home I sat up late watching Baz’s Romeo + Juliet. So we thought – let’s do this on the big screen – and All About Jill seemed like a great weekend!”

All About Jill is on at Yarraville’s Sun Theatre from Friday 2 November to Monday 5 November, 2018.
