Film Art Media is delighted to announce the release of David Hirschfelder’s original music soundtrack for the Australian film THE DRESSMAKER following its Nomination for Best Original Music Score at the 5th AACTA Awards. THE DRESSMAKER has become an Australian box office hit since its opening on 29 October 2015 as the #1 film in the country, taking over $15 million to date.
Available on iTunes, CDBaby.com and Amazon. The soundtrack includes twenty-five original tracks from the film that capture all the beauty and tonal variations of the film that has been hailed a classic by critics and audiences alike.
Says Hirschfelder, “THE DRESSMAKER is a sumptuous feast of eccentric characters and deliciously off-beat humour, providing a most stimulating and evocative canvas for a screen composer. I had an absolute ball creating the score for this one-of-a-kind wonderful motion picture, and like all good films, I didn’t want it to end!”
“David’s music is extraordinary”, says Producer, Sue Maslin. “The score allows you to relive the emotional journey of the film in all its extravagant glory and pathos, from beginning to end. It is such a joy to listen to the work of David Hirschfelder, a master composer”.
THE DRESSMAKER is based on the bestselling Australian novel by Rosalie Ham and directed by Jocelyn Moorhouse. The stellar ensemble cast includes KATE WINSLET, LIAM HEMSWORTH, JUDY DAVIS AND HUGO WEAVING.
THE DRESSMAKER stars Kate Winslet as Tilly Dunnage, a glamourous woman who returns home to the tiny middle-of-nowhere town of Dungatar to right the wrongs of the past. Not only does she reconcile with her ailing, eccentric mother Molly (Judy Davis) and unexpectedly fall in love with the pure-hearted Teddy (Liam Hemsworth), but armed with her sewing machine and incredible sense of style, she transforms the women of the town and in doing so gets sweet revenge on those who did her wrong.
