Based on Rosalie Ham’s best-selling novel, The Dressmaker is a bittersweet tragi-comedy about Tilly Dunnage, a glamorous young woman who returns, after many years in Europe, to her small home town in rural Australia, in order to right a few wrongs from the past. Set in 1950s, it is a story of love, hate and haute couture.
Written and directed by Jocelyn Moorhouse, The Dressmaker will be filmed on location in a small country town in the golden wheat belt of outback Australia. Producer Sue Maslin recently hit the road with the author in search of ‘Dungatar’, and explored the Wimmera region of north-west Victoria. Sue will return with Jocelyn and continue the road trip around Australia until they find the perfect town.
The feature film is currently financing and casting is well underway.
