After eighteen months in development, Australian Encounters is now fully financed and in production for ABC TV. And an Australian legend in his own right, Oscar-winner Geoffrey Rush, has provided the narration for the one-of-a-kind multi-platform project.
Based on Shane Maloney and Chris Grosz’s very popular column in The Monthly magazine, the animated history series depicts ten fascinating encounters between a renowned Australian and an international mover and shaker, all bound to raise an eyebrow and a laugh.
Executive produced by Film Art Media and produced and directed by Duncan Imberger and Josh Moore of Suitcase Murphy, the project also boasts a wonderful creative team, including Brendan Luno (script editor), Aaron Davies (boardomatics), Chris Grosz (illustration), Geoffrey Rush (narration), Gerry Connolly (voiceover) and XYZ Studios (animation).
Production will be completed before the end of the year, by which time the extraordinary Chris Grosz will have knocked-out more than 1000 original illustrations … the old-fashioned way, with pens and watercolours.
